Madurai: Madras High Court on Monday Direct Muthuvel, who took a video of a 17-year-old XII class girl from the Thanjavur District where she made allegations that she had been called to enter Christianity, to appear for an investigation on Tuesday and handed her cellphone to the officer investigation.
The investigative officer that appeared before the court confirmed that the video circulated on social media was the one who died.
However, that alone will not be enough.
The original cellphone from which video recorded is needed for forensic analysis to confirm its authenticity.
Muruganantham applicant, the father of a dead girl, who appeared in front of the court through a video conference, stated that the video was recorded by Muthuvel.
He also stated that Muthuvel would appear in front of an investigation officer and handed his cellphone at 10 am on Tuesday.
Taking aware of the submission, justice G R R Swaminathan directed Muthuvel to appear in front of an investigative officer and handed his cellphone on Tuesday.
The judge also asked the applicant and his wife to appear before the investigative officer on Tuesday so that their statement could be recorded.
The judge directed the investigative officer to send a cellphone along with a CD containing a video to Tamil Nadu Forensic Science Laboratory in Mylapore in Chennai on Tuesday.
The judge directed the laboratory director to examine cellphones and other materials fisted by investigative officers on the same day and gave a report about authenticity.
The judge directed the Regional Forensic Laboratory in Thanjavur to submit a Viscera report and postmortem report containing the last opinion to the investigative officer before January 27 night.
Based on the previous direction of this court, the applicant and his wife appeared before the Magistrate Judicial Thanjavur III on Sundays and their statements were recorded under 164 CRPC.
A copy of the original statement was submitted before the court and the same thing was handed over to the investigative officer.
In the petition, the Muruganantham applicant stated that his daughter committed suicide only because of torture he was riding in him in the hands of school management after rejection for religious conversion.
However, the Thanjavur District Supervisor police gave a press statement stating that there were no complaints of forced religious conversion.
Since SP’s statement raised suspicion, the applicant moved the HC Madurai bench who was looking for CB-CID probes in this case.
This case was postponed until January 28 for further hearing.
