New Delhi: The results of the initial genome from Delhi-based Laboratory revealed that in all Covid-19 deaths between the last week of December 2021 and the first week of January 2022, the patient was infected with the omicron variant, said the source.
However, almost all the deceased, has comorbidity and many have other underlying medical conditions.
Although Delhi has witnessed a constant decline in the case of Covid-19 fresh and the test level of the test, 30-40 deaths were reported every day.
The Delhi government has implemented a sequencing of the samples collected from patients who have died to identify if they are infected by omicron or delta variants.
Sequencing genomes are being carried out at the National Center Laboratory for Disease Control, Institute of Heart Science and Biliary and Lok Nayak Hospital.
The source said the report from one of the laboratories had arrived.
“The results that have arrived from one of the laboratories show that in 100% samples, the Coronavirus novel variant is Omicron.
However, the deceased, have comorbidities.
In many cases, they have a medical condition that is seriously underlying.
This segment remains vulnerable even though it is a mild nature of Omicron variant, “said an official.
This report included last week December 2021, when the Delta variant was still unusual, it was almost until mid-January, when Omicron had become the dominant tension.
“At present, Omicron is almost the only variant present in the new Covid-19 case.
At the end of December 2021, the cases of Delta variants remain less than 20%,” said government officials.
Other Delhi government officials said there was a delay between the beginning of a surge in the case of Covid-19 and its fatalities.
“That’s why it’s important to know whether those who give up on this disease are infected by Omicron variants, which cause most cases today, or Delta variants, which are dominant until last month,” the official added.
Delhi reported the first case of the Omicron variant on December 6, 2021, when a 33-year-old man who had returned from Tanzania was tested positive for Covid-19.
There were 30 Covid-19 fatalities recorded on Monday, taking victims in January to 543, with a daily average of 22.6 deaths this month.
