New Delhi: Covid-19 recorded infection in India across 4 crores on Tuesday, with 50 lakh new cases added in the last three weeks during the third wave of pandemics driven by Omicron in the country.
Counts of Covid India continue to be the second highest in the world after the US, where nearly 7.3 crore cases have been cut down to date.
India has reached a 3-crore sign in the total case on June 22, 2021, when the second wave reduced.
During the wave, the country saw an increase of the fastest crore case, when the count rose from 2 crores to 3 crores in just 40 days.
Meanwhile, everyday death rose steeply 27% in a day, with 571 fatalities reported on Tuesday, the highest daily count in five months since August 25, 2021, when 603 deaths were recorded.
The toll road on Monday is 449.
In the case of new cases, the third wave surge continued to slow in the country even though there was a large surge in Kerala, which recorded the highest daily number of 55,475.
Nearly 2.87 new cases were reported in the country on Tuesday, up from 2.54 lakh the previous day.
Last week, everyday case had reached a height of 3.47 lakh on Thursday.
Death rose sharply at Maharashtra, which reported 86 deaths on Tuesday, the highest daily victims in 110 days.
Of these, Mumbai recorded 10 deaths.
Other countries wrestle with deaths that surge on Tuesday include Kerala (70), Karnataka (52), Tamil Nadu (48), Gujarat (28), Chhattisgarh (23), Assam (18), J & K (14) and Andhra Pradesh (12).
This is among 12 states and UT that reported their highest single death during the third wave on Tuesday.
Daily death remains high in several other states, including Bengal (36), Delhi (31), Punjab (30) and Rajasthan (22).
On Tuesday, the everyday case saw a large surge in just two states / UTS – Kerala and J & K.
While Kerala reported a very high level of front of 49.4% (with one of each two tests giving positive results for Covid) , J & K posted 6,570 new cases, the count of one highest day in UT from the beginning of the pandemic.
While the next two-three days tend to reveal whether the third wave will rise further than he high last week, the active case count is listed slightly falling to run the second day.
Active calculations currently remain slightly above 22.3 lakh, down 25,000 in the last two days.
