New Delhi: Taking strict steps to ensure disorders will not return on the roadside in Chandni Chowk after their appointment, North Delhi Municipal Corporation has been deployed by 90 civil defense volunteers in the area.
They have been divided into 29 knocks on checking illegal disturbances from the red Fort to Fatehpur Mosque, said an official.
This is in addition to their duty to manage pedicab on this stretch and help pedestrians.
“We have carried out anti-encroaching drives with several departments at least 65 times since April 2021 and simultaneously written to Delhi police to ensure stretched remains free.
During this drive, we discuss 135km regions and clean up all disturbances from public land.
While the action will continue, we have asked the civil defense staff to immediately report to us in any case reappearing encroachment, “the official said.
The corporation was carried out the main anti-encroachment of driving inside and around Chandni Chowk in the last five days following the direction of the Delhi High Court and complaints of traders about the increasing number of illegal wild residents by the road even though the region became a no-squat and no zone.
On Monday, disruptions were removed from the 3.5km area, including HC Sen Marg, the market cycle, around the ground parade parking, New Lajpat Rai Market, Netaji Subhash Marg, the area around Jain Mandir, and Srdc Road and confiscated 80 items.
On Tuesday, it was removed with disturbances around Shani Mandir.
Sanjay Bhargava, President Chandni Chowk Vypar Mandal, said the action was taken on Tuesday against illegal loading and unloading on public land.
“The court has asked the civil entity to submit an action-taken report in a week and the next session is scheduled on February 10,” he said, adding that the notification was also presented to the Teabazari site allocated on the market, no A squat zone.
