Religious: At least 150 Gatamaha voters at Talarahahahi Panchayat Kandhamal Regency have threatened to boycott the election of Panchayat in protest against non-fulfillment of their old demand to declare the hamlet as a village.
Residents have made a similar threat in 2017, but chose after the district government ensured to demand their demands.
“The five years have passed but guarantees have not been fulfilled.
In protest, we have decided to boycott the rural poll this time,” said R K Bagarti, a village resident.
“Before the start of the election process for the Pancrayat Agency, we have filed our demands to the District Collector and Tehsildar,” he added.
