Gurgaon: The three-year-old male leopard surrendered to the injury he suffered after being hit by a vehicle on the West Bank freeway in Noah on Saturday.
Leopard, which was found was very injured along the speedway, sent to the Rohtak Zoo for treatment.
This is the 11 leopard who has died in an accident on the road in South Haryana in the last 15 years.
According to wildlife officials, Leopard’s backbone suffered several fractures and there was internal bleeding too.
“The animal died during treatment.
There was a critical injury behind.
It can’t move and give up on injury on Sunday,” said Rajesh Chahal, a wildlife inspector in Gurgaon.
Around 9 in the morning on Saturday that the injured leopard was seen along the road by one of the villagers.
The animal was hit by a vehicle between Tauru Village and Padheni from Noah District.
After being informed by the villagers, the East Wildlife Department official team from Gurgaon rushed to a place with a net, cage, and a calm pistol.
Leopard was taken to the Rohtak Zoo for treatment.
Activists called for more underpasses along the highway in Aravalis.
“The state government must conduct a study of leopards and build underpass along the toll road.
I do not know what the government is waiting.
We lose leopards every year,” said Vaishali Rana Chandra, a wildlife activist.
The Wildlife Institute of India (WII) report in 2017 categorically shows that Arivalis belts are rich leopard habitats and there are many wildlife in this country.
Haryana South Forest has a 166 wolf population, next to 31 leopards, 26 forest cats, 91 Porcupin, 50 opponents, 126 hyena, three wolves, and 61 weasels.
However, the area has seen several leopard deaths along the highway.
In June last year, a two-year-old leopard died after being hit by a vehicle on Jalan Pali near Astola Bhati Wildlife Reserve in Faridabad.
In October 2019, the 18-month-old women’s leopard was destroyed to death.
