4 Subsidiaries Cil to lead coal gasification projects

Ranchi: BALAL INDIA BALAL COMPANY BALAL LIMITED (CIL), Central Boalfields Limited (CCL), is one of the four PSU companies that have been assigned to implement an ambitious coal gasification project of the Trade Union, which was announced by the Minister of Finance Nirmala Nirmala Sitharaman in its budget speech on its budget Tuesday.

“Pre-feasibility reports for coal gasification plants are being conducted at CCL, Eastern Coalfields Limited (Asansol), Limitaga Barat South East Limited (headquartered in Bilaspur) and West West Limited (Nagpur) and land patches identified in their command,” one Senior CMPDI officials told TII.
The main mining expert said the new project involves the use of coal mined to produce syngas consisting of carbon monoxide and hydrogen in the first phase.
In the second phase, Syngas is processed to get the desired product for the specific industrial sector.
Sumber Cil said that every plant would need anywhere between 100 and 200 hectares of land and a permanent source of water.
CCL officials have identified a suitable plot at the Ashoka coal mine in the North Khalari project in the Khalari area in the Ranchi district.
While CCL and WCL have been mandated to produce ammonium nitrate (used to produce fertilizers and explosives), ECL has mandate to produce methanol.
