Kolkata: Improving, driving drinking and dangerous driving caused three separate accidents in the city on Friday night which claimed two lives.
In the first accident on the main road Maniktala between Bagmari and Kankurgachhi, a 68-year-old woman who returned from a family program was killed and her husband was injured after being hit by a mini truck.
In Hastings, a drunken car driver (with a 43% alcohol content against 34% permitted) running on a truck helper after suddenly turning left.
At Hiland Park, a 63-year-old man hit the Naka police on Em Bypass barely avoid hitting the police on duty and hit three vehicles.
The police said the man had pressed the accelerator instead of the brake when he saw Naka’s night in front.
“The Maniktala accident took place around 9.3 hours near Bank Uco.
Victims of Juthika Biswas (68), a resident of Aswini Nagar in Bagguiati, was killed when a pick-up vehicle crashed into a bicycle that he drove a pilot.
Biswas rushed to NRS where he was declared dead.
His head Destroyed under the wheel despite having a helmet.
The defendant, Pradip Sahani (30), has been arrested, “said DC (traffic) Arjit Sinha.
In Hastings, the victim of Mrinal Kanti Jana (45) from East Midnapore was hit by a private car driven by Kashif Humair (50), a resident of Beck Bagan Row, who was in a drunken country, police said.
“When I did Naka check around 11:50 a night near Hiland Park on bypass, a private car ran the fence and hit three other vehicles.
It includes sergeant bikes, local PCP-5 patrol vehicles and cars from one of the police on duty.
