Pune: Deputy Minister of Maharashtra Maharashtra Ajit Pawar on Saturday said that even though the cases of active Coronavirus in Pune fell by almost 50 percent, the administration would adopt the waiting and watching policy.
Pawar, who is also Minister Guardian Pune, spoke to reporters after reviewing the Covid-19 situation in this district.
“As far as the Covid-19 case around the world, there has been a decrease in new infections, but there is a marginal increase in daily victims.
It has been observed at the district level, state and global,” said Minister.
Active cases fell 30 percent in the country, while in the state, they have decreased by 42 percent, he said.
“There were 90,000 active cases in Pune District until last week, but the number now dropped to 45,000.
Even though these cases declined, we would adopt the waiting and watching policies for the next few days,” said Pawar.
Considering trends, schools for class 1 to 8 can function on a full day compared to half-day timings, he said.
Talking about vaccination drives in the district, Pawar said 86 percent of people had taken the second dose in this district.
“Vaccination for children in the age group 15-18 has been left behind in Pune and Pimpri Chinchwad.
Because of the lack of vaccines, we cannot enter children today.
According to officials, we will be able to manage vaccines on Monday,” Minister said.
Pune on Friday reported 2,126 cases of Covid-19, which was highest by any city in the state that day.
