Bhubaneswar: After improvement in the Covid situation, the State Election Commission (SEC) is likely to calm the limit to campaigning Pancayat polls.
The Commissioner of the State Election of Aditya Prasad Padhi has held a meeting of district collectors and SPS on Monday to discuss issues related to preparation for rural polls.
The official source said the easing of the campaign norm was one of the agendas in the meeting.
Although the prohibition of large demonstrations, roadshows, and bicycle demonstrations is likely to continue, the poll panel can allow meetings with the participation of a large number of people.
The number of people for the door-to-door campaign is also likely to increase.
“We are examining relaxation given by the Indian Election Commission (ECI) for the election of the Assembly in five countries.
SEC also maintains a close watch in the Covid situation in the state.
We will make a decision that is appropriate to consider all aspects,” said Senior Senior Officer .
ECI on Sundays expand the prohibition of roadshows, inyatras, cycles and demonstrations of vehicles but relaxed norms for indoor and outdoor political meetings.
While announcing the date for rural polls, which will be held in five phases from February 16, SEC has imposed restrictions on public demonstration holders, roadshows, inyatras, demonstrations or cycle / bicycle procession.

Compliance Guidelines for Model Behavior, Training Officials for rural polls, strong room identification for calculation and security settings are some other problems that tend to be discussed by the state poll panel.
Senior officials of the state government and top police officers can also join meetings.
