Navi Mumbai: However, another truck driver carrying sand which was illegally excavated from Panvel Creek and avoided royalties, had escaped after being intercepted by Raigad’s revenue official near the Taloja Metro Bridge on Wednesday morning.
FIR for theft was registered at the Taloja police station against the truck driver accused.
A similar incident has occurred on January 25, where two truck drivers carrying sand illegally have fled after the Tehsildar Panvel office team detained them for an investigation, in the Wahal Village check point, because they did not pay royalties for sand transportation.
To prevent illegal activity of transportation of sand by avoiding royalties and causing loss of revenue for the state, Raigad Regency collector has formed a team of income officials.
They have been deployed all the time by setting up the Royalty Giro Booth in the Uran-Contesture Road in Wahal Village, Junction T-Point Kalamla and under the Taloja Metro Bridge.
On Wednesday morning, Raigad’s income official had intercepted a truck towards Kalyan, transporting the sand dug from Panvel Creek, under the Taloja Metro Bridge.
When the truck driver, Jaihari Singh could not produce acceptance and license payment of royalties for sand mining, revenue officials asked him to lower the truck because it seized the sand truck loaded.
Immediately, several other truck drivers were also stopped because checking began to argue with income officials and creating chaos.
Taking advantage of this situation, Jaihari truck driver Singh drove with his sand truck.
On January 25, around 5pm, an unknown truck driver had drove in his truck after being told to show a receipt of payment of sand royalty, while Panvel Tehsil officers recorded the truck registration number.
Then, around 11pm, but other Trucker Pradeep Verma was stopped at the Revelation check point to transport sand in the dumper.
When officials were busy checking other trucks, Verma used a backup key with it and drove with dumper.
A pine was later registered at the NRI Coastal Police Station below Section 379 (penalty for theft) IPC along with Section 48 (7) Maharashtra land income code, 1966 and part 21 of mines and minerals (regulation and development) acting, 1957 for mining without mining legitimate authorities and penalties for government tax avoidance.
