Chennai: Two men were injured when a fast sport utility vehicle (SUV) ran to a roadside restaurant and crashed into the supermarket door at Anna Nagar -thirumangalam Road in Chennai on Sunday night.
What was injured was identified as Oshima, who was hired in the restaurant, and an unknown pedestrian.
Oshima was hospitalized while pedestrians were treated as outpatient.
The accident occurred around 11:30 a night after the restaurant and supermarket were closed for that day.
After reviewing CCTV camera recordings, Thirumbalamalam investigative officials said that there were three occupants in the SUV.
They said that the trio came down from the vehicle and escaped from the scene before people gathered.
The airbag in the SUV was deployed when the vehicle hit the shutter and all the residents were safe.
The police traced the SUV owner with the help of the registration number.
It belongs to the Samination of West Mogappair, which runs water can distribute business in the area.
Police said the son Saminathan, Rajesh, and his friends might travel in the SUV.
Traffic investigative officials Thirumbalamalam said they were not sure whether the trio was under the influence of alcohol.
An officer said, “We have traced Saminathan’s address and asked him to appear before the investigative officer.”
