BHUBANESWAR: Chief minister Naveen Patnaik on Friday dedicated Covid equipment worth Rs 25 crore by Western Odisha Development Council (WODC) for 11 western Odisha districts.
The chief minister also announced additional special grant of Rs 25 crore to WODC for Covid management.
The districts of Bargarh, Balangir, Boudh, Deogarh, Jharsuguda, Kalahandi, Nuapada, Sambalpur, Sonepur, Sundargarh and parts of Angul will benefit from this.
The additional grant will be utilized for developing additional ICU bed facilities, oxygen concentrators, personal protective equipment kits, N-95 masks, procuring critical diagnostic equipment required for Covid specific tests, oxygen pipes and purchase of pulse oximeter.
Naveen said the special intervention will strengthen the fight against Covid in the western districts.
Reiterating that every life is precious, the chief minister directed officials to ensure that all people should get good quality treatment.
WODC chairperson Asit Tripathy said the equipment and consumables were procured based on the need of districts in their fight against the pandemic.
