SAMBALPUR: A man, who tested positive for Covid-19 on June 5 and was in home isolation since then, killed his three-year-old daughter by slitting her throat and attempted to kill his other three daughters before slitting his own throat at Jautukbahal village under Gobindpur police limits in Sambalpur district on Friday night.
His wife was also injured and his teenage son fled from the house.
Police identified the man as Sukha Oram (50) and his dead daughter as Salmi.
His wife and other daughters have been admitted to the Sundargarh hospital.
Police said after the family went to bed on Friday, Sukha came to their room with a sharp weapon and tried to kill Salmi.
On seeing this, Sukha’s wife opposed him but Sukha attacked her.
The woman and her four children ran away to the house of a relative but could not take Salmi with them.
On Saturday, villagers took them to hospital and informed police.
SDPO (Kuchinda) Rajkishore Mishra said Sukha was taken to Sundargarh DHH and later referred to theVimsar, Burla, where he died.
