CHENNAI: Historical high-prevalence districts accounted for over 50 percent of Tamil Nadu’s 12,772 new Covid-19 instances on Monday as instances dropped across the country.
All these 11 districts — six in western Tamil Nadu such as Coimbatore, and five central Tamil Nadu — tucked 6,496 new scenarios.
The western belt had significantly greater incidence with Coimbatore recently reported 1,728 new circumstances, maximum in the country, over double of Chennai’s 828 instances.
Perambalur, Ariyalur, Pudukottai, Ramanathapuram and Sivagangai districts reported significantly less than 100 instances and 10 others had less than 200 instances.
Karur and Tenkasi had no deaths while five districts reported one death each.
