NEW DELHI: The general public works department (PWD) might have promised that a distinct drainage system in fundamental Delhi’s Minto Bridge region, possibly the most baffling stretch at the funds during each monsoon, however no progress was made thus far.
Officials say they’ll set up more suction pumps in the website and will prevent vehicular traffic to the stretch when it rains greatly to prevent any untoward event.
Each year, particularly during the monsoon, the region below Minto Bridge, in the important traffic intersection of Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Marg along with Swami Vivekananda Marg (previously Minto Road), adventures everyday waterlogging.
To correct the issue forever, PWD has chosen to reconstruct a consultancy company to come up with an independent drainage system to the region.
It’ll be the first time that Delhi will find another drainage system for a specific location.
But, no headway was made however.
The choice to construct another drainage system was likely triggered by the drowning of a 56-year-old guy from the waterlogged region last year after a heavy rain.
Authorities had stated Kundan Kumar’s van got stuck under the bridge and that he could not escape.
Government officials stated the consultancy company would also be requested to submit a couple of options to revive the drainage system of the region in a viable way.
Ever since the strategy was chalked out, tenders have been silenced, but the discussions have not materialised with any company.
The initial two tenders had obtained bad answers.
The next time, PWD got two possible losers, but the method got stuck because of this Covid-19 lockdown.
An official said that the job would begin by early July, however, the drainage system will not be prepared in this monsoon.
The consultancy job will require three weeks, after which building work will start.
The consultancy work may consist of analyzing the present drainage system and its own catchment area and preparing a detailed strategy for the individual drainage system.
Presently, the majority of the rainwater from the region drains to the Delhi Jal Board traces with a drain measuring two metres in diametre.
According to a formal, the current drainage system in the region around Minto Bridge includes a profound cone drain, which has been constructed during the era.
Both sewer and drain water enter exactly the identical line and leak to the Yamuna.
Since sewerage has grown through time, roads start to go waterlogged as it rains.
The new project intends to make another pipeline for rainwater so it drains faster.
The area below the bridge is very vulnerable because it’s a naturally low living region, ” said an official.
For many years, the section was occupying pumps in the region to eliminate rainwater through heavy rainfalls.
This is actually the first-time PWD was operating on a permanent remedy to terminate the heavy waterlogging each year.
