THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Since Kerala allows reopening of spirits and pubs following easing the Covid-induced lockdown on Thursday, lengthy queues were seen out BevCo socket (Kerala State Beverages Corporation) in Power House street in Thiruvananthapuram and other spirits shops.
Saju Abraham, sub inspector of Kerala authorities advised that the spirits stores were scheduled to start at 9am, but the impatient bunch started regretting an hour earlier.
“The spirits stores opened at 9am, however, the clients began queuing far before.
There has been a very long queue out BevCo at 8pm,” he explained.
In addition, he said that penalties were being levied on people who had been violating Covid criteria.
“We’ve made three distinct queues so there isn’t any overcrowding.
If anybody violates social distancing, we smack good on these”.
In the aftermath of some resumption of spirits sales in the country from now, the authorities directed people coming at sales outlets and pubs to use masks and sanitizers and preserve social space.
The state police chief directed to intensify patrolling near such institutions to make sure the next of Covid protocols.
The Kerala government had eased the curbs out of now when announcing that the continuation of total lockdown on weekends.
Shops selling essential items are permitted to run every day from 7am to 7pm.
The government also has permitted the performance of public transportation on a restricted basis.
