Nagpur: The Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) has recognized 1,348 unauthorised structures in town.
Assistant civil commissioners of 10 zones also have issued notices to such land owners — both commercial and residential — under applicable parts of the MRTP Act.
After running a survey to determine hierarchical arrangements, all 10 zones have filed the report on the NMC’s anti-encroachment section for additional action.
The zonal offices have pitted against 337 real estate owners, that have violated sanctioned plan or assembled without needing permission in the NMC’s city planning section, although 731 such land owners have escaped activity up to now.
Of the rest, 90 property owners have approached the courtroom, although 60 have filed revised sanction program and 125 have transferred the country urban development division in Mumbai to receive their illegal constructions regularized.
According to the poll, Laxmi Nagar zone accounted for the maximum number of illegal constructions in 288, whereas Ashi Nagar zone 286, Gandhibagh 177, Mangalwari 167, Dharampeth 143, Satranjipura 78 along with Dhantoli zone 65 (for record of 10 zones please visit box).
Gandhibagh, Dharampeth and Mangalwari zones include a enormous chunk of prohibited industrial constructions, the poll revealed.
Although the state government had in December 2020 implemented unified creation management and advertising regulations (DCR) paving method of regularizing illegal structures, it received bad reaction.
Just 60 land owners — largely by Laxmi Nagar (15) and also Ashi Nagar (19) — acquired their illegal structures regularized by paying the required fee and punishment.
Most unauthorized buildings are constructed trampling about the prevailing DCR and rip-off all building standards as a result of political patronage and ignore into the city planning division, sources alleged.
Aside from bending FSI principles, in the majority of cases unauthorized structures were found dividing the approved strategies.
Thus, it’s not possible to redevelop these structures according to rules, when they’re in disrepair.
“The coordinated DCR stipulates a heightened FSI demanded for redevelopment and paves the way for offering a safe shield to the inheritance of illegal structures,” said an official in the civic body.
A senior officer asserted that the civic body will start a special drive against illegal possessions shortly.
