NEW DELHI:”A 33-year-old guy was detained for allegedly attempting to extort cash from someone from the federal capital,” authorities said on Saturday.
“The accused, Tarun, that had been miserable after enduring monetary losses throughout the Covid-induced lockdown, hatched a plan using the sufferer’s ex-girlfriend to extort cash,” they stated.
“Tarun, a resident of Mangolpuri, left predictions to the sufferer, requesting him to pay Rs 5 lakh, failing that they might falsely implicate him in a murder situation,” authorities said.
The complainant Ankit told the authorities he had been in a relationship with a female for about a couple of decades.
The girl and Tarun was demanding Rs 5 lakh.
“On Friday, authorities obtained a tip-off about the existence of the accused near the Sanjay Gandhi Hospital.
Subsequently, police set a trap close to the hospital and hammering him” deputy commissioner of police (Rohini), Pranav Tayal stated.
“Interrogation shown that Tarun had endured heavy financial losses in his company throughout the lockdown because of that he had been miserable,” that the DCP said.
“He understood the girl.
To assist Tarun and earn easy cash, they hatched a conspiracy to extort money from the complainant,” police said.
“Efforts are being made to mimic the girl,” authorities said.
