GHAZIABAD: Ghaziabad police on Wednesday arrested a man for allegedly duping a youth of Rs 5 lakh on the pretext of providing a government job.
Police said that the accused has been identified as Sushil Kumar, a resident of Loni.
In early 2020, a man had complained that the accused duped him of Rs 5 lakh on the promise of a job.
When police didn’t register a complaint, the man moved court.
In August 2020, the court ordered cops to register a complaint and start investigating the matter.
Sushil was arrested on Wednesday with the help of technical surveillance.
Police said that the accused collected money from the victim on several occasions stating different reasons such as for application form, fees for online registration, verification fee, medical fee, etc.
“The accused had forged signatures of officials and used fake stamps to prepare documents such as offer letters,” he said.
Anirudh Kumar, investigation officer, said that the accused was booked under Section 420 (cheating), 467 (forgery), 468 (forgery for purpose of cheating), 471 (using as genuine a forged document or electronic record), 406 (punishment for criminal breach of trust), 504 (intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of the peace), 506 (punishment for criminal intimidation) and 120B (criminal conspiracy) of IPC.
The accused was produced in court and sent to judicial custody.
