GREATER NOIDA: Bisrakh police have suo motu registered an FIR for the alleged robbery with the editor-in-chief of a Hindi news channel on the intervening night of June 19-20 on a stretch near the Rise police chowki in Greater Noida (extension).
Officials said that since the news anchor did not lodge a complaint despite repeated insistence, the FIR for robbery was lodged based on his Facebook post.
Atul Agrawal, the editor-in-chief of Hindi Khabar channel, was targeted by five masked youths on two bikes and robbed of cash at gunpoint when he had stopped his SUV to check his car’s music system in the Sector 49 police station area.
The spot lies barely 300 metres from the Rise police chowki in Greater Noida (extension).
He had shared his ordeal in a Facebook post — “life is safe probably because I am a TV anchor.” DCP (central Noida) Harish Chander said the FIR was lodged in the case under IPC Section 392 (robbery).
“We are investigating the case.
A team has been formed to probe the crime,” he said.
The FIR was lodged on Tuesday night on the basis of a complaint from sub inspector Kartar Singh, who is also a member of the team formed to investigate the case.
TOI had also reported about the robbery.
