NAVI MUMBAI: The Kamothe police rescued the 43-year-old wife of a builder, who was allegedly kidnapped by a couple and a woman posing as a cop over a monetary dispute.
The builder reportedly owed the accused Rs 1.5 crore.
The police have registered an FIR against Ravindra and Rohini Muke, and their 19-year-old son Dhruv, residing in Airoli, apart from the unidentified woman (fake cop).
They have been booked for kidnapping, extortion, voluntarily causing hurt and criminal intimidation with common intention.
The IPC’s section 170 (personating a public servant) too has been invoked.
The incident occurred around 9.30am on June 23.
The Muke couple and the woman allegedly abducted Dhanlakshmi Nair, who resides in Sector 20, Kamothe, from her residence after whipping her with a belt, the police said.
She was forcibly taken away in a vehicle and the fake policewoman threatened Nair that if her family did not repay the money owed to the accused, she would be handcuffed and dragged to Rabale police station.
