PATNA: Unidentified armed criminals shot dead a young block level RJD leader Deepak Yadav (25) near Niyazipur Dam under Simri police station area of Buxar district when he was returning from a cremation with few friends in a SUV on Friday night.
Police said that Yadav was Dumraon block president of RJD’s students’ wing in Buxar.
Police also said that he lived at the main market area at Chanakyapuri colony under Dumraon police station area of Buxar.
Buxar SP Neeraj Kumar Singh on Saturday said that slain Yadav’s family members have lodged FIR against five unknown assailants in connection with his killing.
“Family members had initially alleged that he had met with an accident.
They took him to Sadar hospital from where he was referred to Varanasi.
He died on the way to Varanasi after which family members brought the body back and alleged that he was shot dead,” he said adding this has raised several kinds of suspicion.
SP said that investigation is on and raids are being conducted at several locations to trace those involved in the killing.
SP Singh said that family members have not cleared the things before the police.
“Yadav had received one bullet injury in head.
Incident took place at around 7pm.
Family members returned Buxar from midway after his death at around 10pm.
Post mortem was conducted within hours,” he said.
Meanwhile, Dumraon SDPO Krishna Kumar Singh said that Yadav had went to attend cremation of his close friend’s grandmother and was returning when he was shot.
“The deceased woman was mother-in-law of Simri block’s Sahiyar panchayat mukhiya Archana Devi,” he said.
“Surprisingly none of those who were with Yadav that time, have surfaced before police yet.
They are traceless,” he said.
The SDPO said that several facts have still been kept hidden like how many criminals had reached spot even when there were several other persons travelling with the slain youth.
He said police have found a bike which had collided with the SUV when it had reached the spot.
SDPO said that several suspicions are to be cleared for which family members and his friends after being traced.
