Vadodara: The police on Sunday arrested eight people including two women because they tried to spread rumors about the covid vaccine in the city.
All who were accused of, who had gathered in mejibaugh in the morning, did not wear a face mask and thought to plan to start the anti-vaccine campaign, police said.
The defendant formed a group called ‘Awaken Gujarat Movement’ and ‘Awaken Vadodaria’.
“In January this year, they distributed pamphlets against Covid vaccines.
We got information that they planned to do the same again on Sunday after we reached the place and arrested them,” said V B Aal, Dearjigunji Police Inspector.
The police said that even though Covid rules needed a mandatory face mask in public places, all the defendants did not wear facial masks and did not maintain social distance too.
The police have ordered them under disaster management laws and criminal conspiracies.
The defendant has been identified as Narendra Parmar, Chandrakanant Mistry, Vishal Vishal Ferwani, Keval Pathadiya, Jagvinder Singh, Irfan Patel, Avni Gajjar and Bhumika Gajjar.
“The four they are the temporary engineers of all housewives.
Even though it was well educated, they spread the wrong information about Covid vaccines.
They also asked people to go for Ayurvedic drugs,” Aal added.
