Pune: Since its launch last month, the Vaccine-on-Wheels (VOW) program has covered more than 17,000 recipients in the Pune Metropolitan area.
The cellular vaccination program was launched to cover residential residents and treat houses in urban areas.
Vaishali Jadhav, assistant medical officer, PMC, said the program (since it was launched on May 27) has reached more than 12,000 vaccines recipients at the city limits of Pune.
“We have mobilized five vans to carry out vaccinations.
More possibilities will be introduced,” he said.
Every van vaccination, besides the driver, has doctors, two nurses, assistant registration and social workers.
Krunal Mehta, Coo of Jivika Healthcare (operating vaccine-on-wheelels) said the number of recipients covered in the PMC limit is around 12,499.
4,950 other people have been borne in Chinchwad’s Pimpri.
“For the next few days, we will have at least three more vans,” Mehta said.
As for routine coverage in the region, Cowin on Sunday showed 26,903 vaccinations in this district.
Civil sites are closed in the PMC area.
The body of Civic said for Monday, it will operate 192 vaccination centers; 58 From these sites will be reserved only for bookings through Cowin.
These slots will open to order 8 am on Monday.
For 45-plus, PMC will operate 116 sites – for the first and second doses.
PCMC Head Rajesh Patil said the Civic body will now focus on a 45-plus population.
Special attention will be given to residents of slums and low-income environments.
PCMC officials say 16 of their vaccination site will be for groups 18-44 while 50 will be for 45-pluses.
PCMC offers 90% of its jab for walk-in.
