Raipur: A school teacher in the Cancer District of Chhattisgarh filed a complain of Cyber RS 3.2 Lakh, only to find out that his 12-year-old son had bought a ‘weapon’ for online battle matches.
The child has made 278 transactions from their telephone for almost three months, which were not detected because no OTP was asked to debit, police said.
According to the police, the child said that there were two other children in their group playing games, and they suspected they also bought lakh ‘weapons’.
On June 25, the teacher was surprised to find that RS 3.2 lakh was missing from his account.
Worried he was robbed by cyber thieves, he filed a complaint on the same day.
The police found that transactions were made from their telephones between March 8 and June 10.
They suggested he talked to his son.
He did it, and was stunned to know that he was connected to online games and had made financial transactions without his knowledge to buy ‘additional features and increased weapons’.
The police said that because no OTP was asked for a transaction, the teacher never knew about the transfer.
Because children have easy access to smartphones, especially in this online school, the police have appealed to parents to oversee their online activities.
