New Delhi: The government on Monday extended senior advocates and famous constitutional experts in Venugopal as the Attorney General for another year.
The sources of the Ministry of Law said Venugopal was persuaded to continue at a constitutional post for one more year until June 30, 2022.
Venugopal, was first appointed as AG on June 30, 2017, during the first term of Modi, will be 90 in September and will be the oldest and will be the oldest senior advocate to hold a constitutional post.
Famous Juris M C Setalvad is the first Indian Attorney General and has the longest period from 1950 to 1963.
Last year, Venugopal has agreed to continue for a year, until June 30, 2021, after a lot of persuasion from the center.
