New Delhi: A 23-year-old man from Amritsar was arrested for his involvement in the hardness of the red fortress that occurred on January 26 this year.
The man, Gurjot Singh aka JAT, brought a cash prize from Rs 1 Lakh on his head, police said.
He is a resident of Tarn Taran in Punjab.
On Sunday, the police said they received information that Singh would approach Gurdwara Toot Sahib in Amritsar.
When Singh arrived at his bicycle about 10.50 in the morning, he was arrested.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (Special Cell) Sanjeev Yadav said Singh revealed that he was involved in the hardness of the Red Fortress.
He also said he supported farmer agitation.
“In December 2020, he came to the Singhu border twice, and even decided to take part in the Republican day rally.
He said they collected Rs 1,000 of 15 people and reached the border.
Around 8 am on January 26, Singh, Gurpreet his cousin and his cousin.
Two other people crashed into police barricades on the way to the red fortress, “Yadav said.
Singh also revealed that he was waiting in front of the Red Fortress where the other three, Gurjant, Jajveer and Boota, met him.
“After that, Gurjant entered the red fortress, lifting the flag of Nishan Sahib in the fortress dome and out.
Then, Singh returned to Singhu’s border when his family told him that their video was shown on the news channel and that the police were looking for him.
He then turned off the phone and on January 27, he reached his village.
He has avoided the arrest since then, “the officer said.
