City: The state government, after objections by local congressional leaders and employees, on Monday stepped back on the decision to remove the unit capacity of 110 megawatts 1 and 2 of the Power Power Thermal City (KTPS) from June 30.
It decided to turn off the unit until the end of the Environmental Approval as of December 31, 2022.
The state government also convinced leaders that it would establish a capacity of 300 megawatt solar power plants in the case of KTPS failed to get environmental approval for the continuity of the two units operations after December 31, 2022.
Minister Udh and MLA from the city of North, Shanti Dhariwal on Monday released a video statement and told everyone about the development after his conversation with the Energy Minister BD Kalla and the main secretary of Dinesh Kumar.
“All units, from 1 to 7 KTPS will continue their operations until December 31, 2022, have been decided at a meeting today (Monday) after a discussion with both (Energy Minister BD Kalla and the main secretary of Dinesh Kumar),” Dhariwal said.
Local leader of the Local Congress Pankaj Mehta and Rajasthan Rajya Vidyut Utpadan Sanghari City Unit President Ram Singh Shekhawat expressed his thanks to CM Ashok Gehlot, Kalla and Dhariwal for decisions.
The decision has provided great assistance to the family of around 1,000 contract workers and locals, he said.
