Rome: The United States hopes that a more stable and profitable relationship with Russia but if the latter continues to “attack”, then Washington will respond, the State Secretary Antony Blinken said in a newspaper interview published on Tuesday.
“If Russia continues to attack us, or act as with solarwind attacks, intrusion into our elections and aggression against Navalny, then we will answer,” he told Repubblika La Repubblica.
Blinken – who is in Rome for an international efforts meeting to fight Islamic militias – refers to Cyberatc and the role of Kremlin critics who are imprisoned by Alexei Navalny.
Earlier this month US President Joe Biden told Russian President Vladimir Putin at the peak in Geneva that certain critical infrastructure must be “beyond the limit” for cyberattacks.
China is “the most complicated” when it arrived at Blinken’s relationship added, but said the United States respected various countries relations with China and that it would not ask them to choose between the two countries.
“However, it is true that when we deal with China – as opposed to, rivals or couples – we are much more effective if we act together,” he added.
Blinken also said that Italy had made an important effort in compiling legislation aimed at protecting its 5G network from “unreliable sellers” and must continue to conduct examinations from other countries.
The United States has lobbied Italy and other European allies to avoid using equipment made by Huawei on the next generation network, said Chinese companies can pose security risks.
Huawei had rejected the accusation.
