Ahmedabad: More than 11,000 people are categorized as ‘Super Spreaders’ have been vaccinated against Covid-19 in the city of Ahmedabad Gujarat so far in a special drive beginning recently because of their inoculation, the local Civic body said on Tuesday.
‘Super-spreaders’ are those who transmit infectious diseases to a large number of others because of the nature of their work.
Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) recently started a special vaccination drive for ‘Super Spreaders’, such as vegetable vendors, wholesalers, gas station staff, barber, couriers and introductory agencies for food.
As many as 11,013 these people have been inoculated as far as part of the drive, the Civic body said in the release.
A central has been established in each of the seven city civil zones to facilitate vaccination of ‘super spreaders’ so that they cause a little danger from the spread of disease to others, AMC said.
“To make vaccination campaign more effective, it was decided to analyzen super spreaders by running a special drive so that their chances of infection from Covid-19 were reduced, because they came into contact with many people because of their nature.

On Monday, a total of 923 people were vaccinated, including 582 in the age group of 18 to 44 years, and 341 in the category 45 and above, he said.
Lately, Ahmedabad has seen a sharp decline in the number of cases of coronavirus reported every day.
In accordance with the Covid-19 AMC bulletin released on Monday, there are 830 Covid-19 cases active in the city.
Ahmedabad has so far reported a total of 2.30,660 cases of Coronavirus and 3,310 deaths due to infection.
In addition, 2,26,520 people have recovered from this disease, said the bulletin.
