Bhubaneswar: In the midst of the MAOIS leadership report in various countries struggling under Covid-19 attacks after the infection and death of several cadres, Odisha police and their colleagues in neighboring countries planned to ensure the situation and improve operations with rebels.
This problem was raised for discussion at the East Region Police Coordination Committee meeting held by the Odisha police on Tuesday.
Directors of the Police General (DGPS) Odisha, West Bengal, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand and Bihar, in addition to other senior officers from these countries, attending online meetings.
“We discussed many problems related to internal security, cyber threats and drug trafficking.
But the focus of meeting is on our strategy to intensify shared anti-Maoist operations.
Coordination and cooperation between countries between the police is the key to overcoming these problems,” said a senior police officer Odisha.
Cooperation in sharing intelligence and plans for joint operations discussed.
Strategies are done for future actions and further cooperation.
The source said the Odisha police officer discussed the strategy to identify Maoist’s runaway and hiding routes near the border between countries.
“We have managed to trace the runaway route along the border of the interstate and use security personnel, including BSF and CRPF.
Still, we need to do it further.
We must ensure that Maoists do not infiltrate neighboring countries during the operation,” the officer said.
Police said accurate intelligence input played a key role in fighting Maoist activities.
In the Odisha police meeting seeking Help West Bengal and Police Bihar to curb cases that developed and smuggling brown sugar.
“We have confiscated more than 250 illegal firearms in the past year of criminals, who bought them from Munger in Bihar.
Similarly, a large number of brown sugar smuggled regularly to Odisha from West Bengal.
Suppliers must be arrested,” the officer added.
