Palghar: The police have arrested two brothers with allegations of killing a taxi driver after a fight for toll payment and throwing his body near a village from the Mumbai-Pune toll road, an official said on Thursday.
Virar’s police under the police Mira Bhayandar Vasai Vanas (MBVV) commission from the Thane-Palghar district bowed Duo – Yusuf Chaus (35) and Mustaqin Chaus (25) – on Wednesday, almost two weeks after the crime, he said.
Senior Inspector of the Virar Police Station, Suresh Varade, said the defendant had employed a victim taxi to go to Lonavala, a popular hill station in Pune District, from Mumbai last month.
On the way, a fight violated payment after the highway after the brothers killed the taxi driver, Santosh Jha (52) and threw away under the bridge near the village of Pangoli from the Mumbai-Pune toll road, he said.
Jha is a population of Virar, the suburb of Mumbai is far away.
The defendant then drove a car to Kolhapur, about 375 km from Mumbai, and left it there, Varade said.
Police Lonavala has registered an accidental case of death after the restoration of the body, while their colleagues in Virar have submitted cases of missing people and are looking for victims since June 17, he said.
The Virar police on Wednesday registered a case under the IPC 302 section (murder), 201 (causing the loss of violations) and 34 (general intentions) to the two brothers and captured them, the inspector said.
The defendant came from Nipani next to Karnataka, working at the construction site on the outskirts of Kandivali Mumbai, he said.
The police are now trying to find out if they have a criminal background, the officer said.
