President Joe Biden will hold a naturalization ceremony on Friday at the White House where 21 immigrants will become citizens as administrators encourage more pathways to citizenship.
An administrative official said Biden would use the moment to request citizenship options for immigrants who were brought to the US illegally as children, for foreign births who have temporary protected status due to disputes in their birth countries and for agricultural workers.
The official was unauthorized to discuss openly the coming ceremony and insisted on anonymity.
Immigration has become a political flame because Biden has tried to update the visa and refugee programs that are cut or suspended during the Trump administration.
In February, Democrats Biden and Congress proposed improvements to large immigration which included the eight-year line to citizenship for around 11 million people living in the United States illegally.
Republican Party Partmakers blocked the effort and had criticized the administration for the rise of people who tried to cross the southern border without a visa.
Immigration debates involve national security issues and economic growth.
Republican parliamentarians try to limit immigration to say it will help keep the US and protect the work for citizens born.
But economists – many related to Democrats – said the increase in immigration would increase economic growth which is currently weighed with the fall of fertility.
On Friday, the President will also recognize Sandra Lindsay as “extraordinary Americans by choice,” a US citizenship and immigration service program that recognizes naturalized citizens.
Lindsay was believed to be the first American who was vaccinated against Covid-19 outside the clinical trial.
He worked as a nursing director for critical care at the Jewish Medical Center Long Island Northwell Health in Queens, New York.
