Noida: After a few difficult months, industrial units in the city stand up with around 70% of workers who returned to duty.
Noida Special Economic Zone (NSEZ), which has 180 active units, claims to operate with a 100% presence and several companies also have new recruitment.
“After the first wave of last year, there was a total locking.
Most of the wage recipients every day were given a two-month salary and asked to go home.
This time, several workers left for their hometown in March around Holi and Pancayat polls.
They started back Slowly from mid-May.
Many families in the villages were beaten by Covid this year and workers returned to support them, “said Anil Kumar, Regional Manager, Uttar Pradesh State Industrial Development Corporation (UPSIDC).
In May, the presence at the factory has dropped to 10-20%.
But the recovery was fast, said the industrial unit owner.
The Noida industrial sector has clothing, electronic goods, packaging, and medical accessory manufacturing units.
According to the district administration, Noida and Greater Noida together have around 10 lakh factory workers involved in more than 10,000 units.
“The last time, the industry was affected for more than three months.
This year, many companies support workers and their families affected by Covid.
We also urge workers to return quickly because our factory is not closed.
All of this helps,” said Kulmani Gupta , President, Indian Industries Association (IIA), Noida.
According to Ajay Goel, the President, the Welfare Association of the Noida Special Economic Zone (NSezwa), about a month back, there were shortcomings in several units.
“But we run the work drive and fill the empty position.
We work with full power now, which means we have 40,000 hands in the factory and around 10,000 employees who work from home,” he added.
Anil Kumar, Deputy Industrial Commissioner, Gautam Budh Nagar, said the main reason for fast turnover was that the factory was not closed this time.
“Those who returned, returned in a few days,” he added.
“About 70% of workers returned to the city.
The Labor office has 7 registered factory workers and there are around 3 lakhs that are not registered.
Now, almost 7 Lakh workers are involved in industrial units.” Noida has around 10,000 factories in NSEZ, Surajpur and industrial pockets other.
