Ahmedabad: Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) has told the Gujarat High Court who has started the action to stop the disposal of solid waste in Lake Ratna, to eliminate debris from the site and also about beauty places.
Efforts to restore beauty to that place are the results of pills submitted by two students – Mehar Pandya and Aashna Jani – through premal advocates Joshi in December last year.
They quoted previous litigation to protect the lake.
The students objected to removing dangerous solid waste near the lake which said that it would destroy the ecological balance.
They complained to fill the lake for throwing debris.
They also expressed the fear that the lake would soon become landfill sites and show the flow of waste water to the lake.
HC ordered a shared inspection by the Gujarat pollution control board (GPCB) and AMC.
In a written statement, the Civil Agency stated that the shared inspection was carried out and immediately began to overcome this problem.
To stop the waste water entering the lake, the 1200 mm valve is installed on the drainage line.
AMC also deployed Varun pumps to drain dirty water from the lake.
AMC said that it would place a fence around the lake, but this could be done only after the state government transferred ownership to the Civic body.
“Until then, the corporation has initiated all effective and quick actions to see that there may be no waste disposal with errors and procedures for monitoring such aspects applied,” written statement.
AMC has removed debris dumped on the edge of the lake.
In addition, he has done gardening work around the lake.
This has started planting trees within 30 meters.
AMC has also deployed two officers to monitor that the lake remained clean.
