Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government is developing a government-managed technical college in Keonjhar to the center of excellence in the Research of the Earth Sciences and Technology at a cost of Rs 42.50 Crore, officials said on Friday.
This problem was discussed at a high-level meeting, chaired by the Chief Secretary of SC Mohapatra, on Thursday, they said.

He also requested the development of the skills and department of technical education to formulate detailed proposals for government approval needed.
The Secretary of the Head of Additional PK Jena suggested that the Institute must have a geological division with a five-year integrated course in applied geology, geophysics and geo-engineering.
He also directed the department to create strong funds for institutions to support research and development activities.
It was decided that the Institute would have a sophisticated division in rock mechanics, extractive extractive mineral processing, extractive metallurgy, testing material, characterization, geology, environmental engineering, planning and mining design, said secretary of skills development and technical education Hemant Kumar Sharma.
All land surface work – from building buildings for installation and testing equipment – can be completed within 36 months, he said.
The budget is estimated at around Rs 42.50 Crore.
College has a permanent campus of more than 37 hectares of land and now provides consultation support to the mineral based industry even with limited resources, Sharma said.
