Nhai to compensate for the highway operator to lose toll because of farmer protests

Written by news2in

New Delhi: National Highway Authority (NHAI) will compensate for private highway developers for their toll income losses due to farmer agitation.
The circular policy issued by Nhai on Friday said the contract period to collect the toll road to recover losses will be extended.
Circular said the extension of the period will be the same as the length of the period when the toll road cannot be collected at all despite the best efforts by the toll operator.
In the case of a partial toll collection where daily collection is less than 90% of the average collection of daily costs during normal days, time will be extended proportionally to recover losses.
The policy said to avoid doubts, if the toll loss is 25% of the daily average income during the normal days for four days, the relevant highway thought will get a one-day extension to collect the toll road.
The toll operator in Punjab, Haryana and the parts of Rajasthan have become the worst hit because of farmers’ protests against three agricultural laws.
