New Delhi: India said on Friday it expects Indian people to be vaccinated in India being treated equally to European people who have been vaccinated in Europe.
This happened when the Dutch became the 10th European country to approve the covishield vaccine to enter the country.
The Indian government has written to all 27 EU countries and European countries outside the block to approve the Indian-made vaccine for a hassle-free trip.
Some European countries are said to be considered demand.
Answering questions on the direction of the weekly MEA, Arindam spokesman Bagchi said, “Our hope is that Indians, vaccinated in India, must be treated equivalent to those who are vaccinated in the EU.” Indian vaccination certificates can be ratified on the Cowin portal, he said, making them credible and safe.
“The authenticity of such vaccination certification can be passed on the Cowin portal.” In the import of US vaccines, Bagchi did not report progress, only said the government was committed to increasing the availability of vaccines, both with domestic production and by importing.
However, India is still far from being able to export vaccines to other countries.
In interesting development, Denmark announced on Friday it would give 250,000 Astrazeneca vaccines to Bhutan.
