Kanpur: Water sports will come true in the city.
“The boat club that is being developed in Ganga Barrage here to increase tourism, is likely to be able to operate immediately,” said Division Commissioner Raj Shekhar on Tuesday.
Various kinds of colorful boats reached the boat club on Tuesday.
“This will be another feather in the development of Kanpur because after cricket now water sports activities also started here at the Boat Club, Ganga Barrage,” the official said further.
On Tuesday, Commissioner and Neeraj Srivastava, Independent Director, Kanpur Smart City visited the boat club and reviewed ongoing work.
The MB Bhatt Technical Team member of the Rowing Association, a member of the police sports team, Canoeing expert Kayak, Ram Niranjan, conducted a technical inspection of the ship and the club.
Especially, the boat club’s idea was approved at that time VC KDA, Deepak Kumar and financed by the Department of Tourism.
In 2010, this problem was distributed with Commissioners, Kanpur Division and then it was decided that finance would be regulated by local resources.
In 2014 this project was included with the botanical and financial garden projects approved.

In 2016 for the management & control of the Kanpur boat club committee was formed under the leadership of the Kanpur Commissioner.
The construction was completed in 2019, but there were obstacles in buying ships and other equipment.
During the past six months, efforts were made by senior authorities.
Kanpur’s Divisional Commissioner, directed the KDA and irrigation departments to complete the task in the specified time period, the trial was reviewed, the target time to formalize POST August.
The commissioner said the boat and other equipment had begun to reach the awaited boat club.
“Currently for water sports events and training for interested people, specific ships such as Kayak, Canoe C1, C2, C4, K4, K2, K4 & Dragon Boats that are very famous for a total of 21 ships arrived,” he said.
He further said that in August, a single scull rowing boat, double scull, Cox 4, motorboat and speed boats will be accepted.
He said water sports were a new dimension at a long-awaited boat club that could achieve its settlement with a sustainable long effort by Neeraj Srivastava, which presented his idea back.
In this project a water sports expert, Aditya Misra from Indian police services also extended its valuable support.
Now this year’s activities will continue for travelers and visitors, he said.
Neeraj Srivastava said that in a boat club various activities such as adventure sports activities, Ganga Aarti, boating, morning music shows in the Varanasi line will be carried out.
Apart from this, in February 2022, a five-day ganga water rally from Kanpur to Prayagraj will be held jointly by the Department of Tourism.
The level of water sports championship will also be arranged every year, he said.
Also it was proposed that Sai built a water sports academy so that children living in the riverbank area were trained here to participate in the Olympics and other international level activities to proud of the country.
Officials said this would develop tourism adventure and Kanpur would shine by organizing the national and international championship for its operations, a smooth function and maintenance of the two member committees was formed with the city commissioner of Neeraj Srivastava.
The manual will be prepared after the study of the Nainital Boat Club, Prayagraj Boat Club and Kanpur Club.
