Ludhiana: City corporate authority has decided to make the city of Rabies free by providing a free vaccine to deviate and register pet dogs.
Members of the Finance Committee and Contract gave a nod to the proposal.
Citizenship officials said last year, post-Mortem of three wild dogs had revealed rabies.
The MC will receive assistance from the Department of Animal Husbandry to regulate a special vaccination camp, which first started in the walled area.
Officials said there was an animal hospital in various areas where the camp could be arranged.
All wild dogs will be covered in drives and registered pets will also be free vaccination.

MC costs Rs 400 per pet.
The Mayor of Balkar Sandhu said, “We have given approval for free vaccination to make people safe from Rabies, because there is no cure for this disease.” The F & CC has also given approval to appoint two veterinarians for wild animals.
The Civic’s body will also provide the exemption of pet registration fees to the owner who is physically challenged and for dog lovers who care for strays.

F & CC members also gave a nod to develop more work than Rs 250 Crore at a meeting held at the Mayor’s camp office on Tuesday.
When asked how the Civic body would arrange funds to complete the work of water supply, sewerage, road, among others, the Mayor of Balarn Sandhu said there was no scarcity of money and the task would be finished without problems.
F & CC also provide approval to sell various MC properties through e-auction.
