Patna: At least two bets every day were killed and four of their colleagues were injured after a car that quickly ran over them and flipped several times in the NH-139 near Pakrandha Village under the Rani Talab Police Station area in West Patna at around 5 Wednesday morning.
The people who were killed were identified as Bajrangi Kumar and Saroj Kumar.
The four colleagues of their injury are Dilwar Kumar, Bimshass Kumar, Vishwanath Kumar and Sunil Kumar, all under 35 years old.
Police Station Rani Talab Satish Kumar said that the driver of the car and three passengers were also injured in the accident, taking the total number of people who were injured eighth.
“The driver managed to escape from the place but the passengers could not.
They along with the six daily bets were rushed to the Primary Bikram health center from where they were further referring to Patna Medical College and hospitals for treatment where two DEIDs were treated,” he said , Sho said that at all nine bets every day came to Rani Talab to work at the construction site of their home in Tilakpura Village in Aurangabad with most of the foot-padded trips.
“Three of them went to alleviate themselves on the field while the remaining six sat beside the road to rest then they were hit by an unexpected car,” Kumar said.
Kumar said that the car residents came to Babhankanpa Village under the police station Rani Talab to attend a wedding and return to Rukanpura on Patna.
“Maybe the driver fell asleep on the wheel which resulted in the accident.
The roadside trees have stopped the car so as not to be discarded further after being reversed several times,” he said.
Sho Kumar said that the process would surrender the body after doing post-mortem at PMCH.
He said the police were waiting for family members from two people who died to reach Patna.
