Dubai: A broken fire on a container ship at Dubai’s main port after the relieved explosion was reported, the Media Office Emirate said Thursday.
At least three residents in the explosion area, the cause was still unknown, reporting windows and doors in their homes was shaken as a result of the incident.
“The fire caused by an explosion in the container on a ship ship in Jebel Ali Port has been controlled; there were no victims reported,” the Dubai media office on Twitter.
The ship has prepared to dock, the office is added in another post.
The post was accompanied by a video of firefighters handling flames on a large ship stacked with a container, identical except for their logo, because the flame spread the detritus above the dock.
Dubai police said three out of 130 containers on the ship held flammable materials and there were 14 crew on the ship.
A AFP correspondent at the scene said there was a helicopter that swirled with smoke rising from safe facilities.
The port is able to handle aircraft carriers and is the busiest call port of US Navy outside the United States in 2017, according to US Congress Research Services.
The port authority said “taking all the necessary steps to ensure the normal movement of the ship in the port continues without interruption”, according to Dubai Media Office.
Such events rarely occur in the emirate of a very safe bay, one in seven which formed the rich United Arab Emirates.
“I was outside on my balcony.
My friend saw something yellow came (like) the sun.
I took pictures and after (there) sound,” said Internship Internship Clemence Lefaix, who lived near the explosion site and posted photos of the orange light Light in the night sky in front of the apartment building.
A resident of the Dubai Marina district, close to Port Jebel Ali, told AFP they “saw a vibrating window”.
“I have stayed here for 15 years and this is the first time I’ve seen and heard this,” they said.
There are 8,000 companies based in Jebel Ali (Jafza)-free zone which contributed 23 percent of Dubai’s gross domestic product last year.
This is the largest trade zone in the Middle East.
