Islamabad: The Pakistani government on Friday said that there were “clear signs” that the fourth wave of Covid-19 began in the country.
“Two weeks ago, I have tweeted that our artificial intelligence model shows the possibility of the emergence of the fourth wave.
Now there are clear initial signs of the fourth wave beginning,” Federal Minister Pakistan planned Asad Umar tweeted.
Although there was a case increase, Umar said the government would not impose total locking during the fourth wave of pandemic.
Umar blamed a poor compliance with the standard operating procedure related to Coronavirus (SOP) and the spread of virus variants, especially the Delta variant for the fourth wave of towering, Dawn reported.
In other tweets, the minister said that the field report showed a complete neglect of vaccination conditions for those who attended the wedding in the room and went to the restaurant and a fitness center in the room.
“If the owner of this facility does not show responsibility and ensure compliance, there will be no choice but to close it,” he said.
Umar’s warning has come only a day after Prime Minister Imran Khan expressed concern in a video message over the fourth wave that towered Covid-19 and called the Delta variant “the greatest concern”.
In his message to the country, Khan has referred to Afghanistan, Indonesia and other countries hit by the Delta variant and expressed concern over the trajectory of Covid-19 cases in Pakistan, just days after they declined.
On Friday, Pakistan reported more than 1,000 Covid-19 cases for the third day in a row.
The country recorded 1,737 cases of Coronavirus and 27 deaths for the past 24 hours.
Pakistan has so far reported 9.69 lakh covid-19 cases and 22,520 deaths from infection.
