Coimbatore: The vaccine crisis continues for sixth consecutive day on Friday in the district with the Ministry of Health and City Corporation announced no public camps.
City Corporation, however, announced a plan to hold camps in five schools on Friday 65 years and above with a total of 1,000 doses of vaccines.
Camps will be held at – Ramchetti School, Ammani Ammal School, High School in Ganapathy, Siddhapudur Corporation School and Selvapuram Corporation School.
The remaining dead storage is only used to vaccinate pregnant women and nursing mothers at Coimbatore Medical College and Hospital.
“We haven’t got information from Chennai when we will get a mass dose to restart public vaccination,” a senior official said.
However, those who were able to pay the vaccine chose to get Jab in a private hospital.
“Personally, the process is much easier.
There is no waiting time, no crowd and we immediately received our certificate without error,” Sanjay S, a resident of the racing course that got a covishield photo in a private hospital at Avinashi Road, said.
