Chennai: Madhavaram police on Friday arrested three people in connection with fraud ‘likes & sharing’.
Some people in the city have fallen prey to fraud, police said.
Guillible is lured to download the application and invest up to 30,000 to get up to 2,000 a day just by sharing and likes certain content received on the application.
A special team headed by Assistant Commissioner Arul Santhosha Muthu accused the defendant as Fakruddin, Meebanen Meideen and Mohammad Manas from Triplicane.
Police are looking for one more suspect.
The arrest was based on complaints from one Dinesh, 28 Ponniammanmedu, who lost money to fraudsters.
Describing the modus operandi, a senior police officer said that the victims had to pay 30,000 to become members of the network.
After the person becomes a member, he qualifies to ‘get’ up to 18 per one like and share.
Victims are allowed to share up to 100 videos per day and produce 1800 per day for the first two days, but then the application will not work.
