Lucknow: Two samples where the Kappa variant of the Coronavirus novel has been detected by King George’s Medical University (KGMU) is a teenager from the rural Lucknow, reliable sources at the University to Ti on Saturday.
However, experts say there is nothing to worry about because the Kappa variant is no longer dominant.
This is a Delta’s predecessor which was declared a variant of worries after playing Havoc during the second wave of pandemic in April and May this year.
The Kappa variant is less deadly than Delta and Delta Plus but the detection will help authority in designing future strategies to check the deployment and possible mutations.
At least 109 samples were sent to KgMu for genome sequencing in May.
Of these, 107 of Delta and two Kappa variants.
Both of these cases were a 13-year-old boy from Kakori and a 14-year-old girl from the Mall, a very placed source at the Confirmed University.
Both teenagers have been tested negatively and said to be fine.
Previously, the Kappa variant was found in a 13-year-old Positive Covid-19 girl sample from Sant Kabir Nagar.
In addition, Delta plus strains have been detected in two patients who each come from Gorakhpur and Deoria.
Officials say Delta Plus needs to be watched carefully.

Anil Kumar Gulati said, “Nothing panicked because the treatment protocol is the same in all variants.”
