PATIALA: Punjab State Power Corporation Limited (PSPCL) is claimed on Saturday that the country’s electricity demand has surged to the highest of all time due to a prolonged dry mantra, sabur season, low water surface in Bharkra reservoir, and damaged units, and damaged units on Sabo Talwandi.
To bridge the gap between demand and supply, the PSPCL has imposed power cuts in the industry.
PSPCL Chairman and Managing Director A Venu Prasad said: “From Sunday, we will relax power regulatory steps in the general category of consumers who have a contract request approved for up to 1,000 KVA (Ampere Kilovolt).
Industrial consumers are now permitted up to 100 kva loads, While the previous exception limit was only 50 kva.
This will increase the burden on the PSPCL system of around 600 megawatts.
“CMD said that for July 11, the corporation had purchased 752 MW power for the price of the RS 3.08 unit, while Saturday’s top demand was 12,500 MW.
PSPCL claimed to have supplied almost 8 hours of power supply to the agricultural sector and lost 1,980 mw cmd because it stumbled on Sabo Talwandi.
