Panaji: After the case of the Zika virus was detected in Kerala, Goa had intensified supervision.
There were no cases of Zika viruses detected in the state in the past even when they were found in other states.
Section “Section of Disease Control Driven by National Vector (NVBDC) throughout the year runs a program for Aedes Mosquito Prevention and Control.
Goa has controlled the distant mosquitoes concerned,” said the State Epidemiology of Dr.
Utkarsh Betodkar.
Even so, he said, all health centers were asked to monitor the situation in their area.
The Zika virus was distributed by an infected Aedes mosquito species.
“Unusual samples will be reported by the health center or patients who refer to hospitals, both private and government, will be sent for testing to the National Virology Institute (NIV), Pune,” he said.
Rajasthan, Gujarat, several northern parts of Maharashtra and several other countries reported Zika’s case throughout the year.
Other health officials said that while Zika’s case has not been reported in the country so far, NVBD has run a sustainable program for prevention of malaria and dengue fever, and ensures that spots or regions that can function as breeding land is destroyed.
The state has succeeded in dropping the number of malaria cases, the officer said.
With an infected Aedes Aegypti Aedes, and although there is an increase in the number of cases that have been reported in the last three to four years, no reported outbreaks of any area.
The reported case was sporadic, the officer said.
There are no dengue fever outbreaks in any area so far, sporadic reported cases, he said.
