Bhubaneswar: Police personnel, who have not been assigned the task of Rath Yatra, have been asked to refrain from visiting Puri with their families.
The State Police Headquarters has sent a round to the head of the police company to strictly comply with orders.
Like last year, the government has banned worshipers from Rath Yatra considering the Covid-19 pandemic.
“Even though the police can get easy access to anywhere, there may be a misuse of prohibition and they can visit the castle alone or bring their families with them.
Only the police personnel who are bonded by Bea must visit the pilgrims,” said a senior police officer.
The source said circular from the state police headquarters was also communicated to IPS officers.
Only a handful of senior IPS officers, including the Director General (Law and order) additional RK Sharma, Director (Intelligence) Lalit Das, Inspector General (Central Range) Narsingha Bhol and Deputy General Inspector (Intelligence) Anup Kumar Sahoo has been assigned a job overseeing RAT security settings Yatra.
Last year, two inspectors had faced the discipline process to visit Puri even though they were not served at Rath Yatra.
